How do I put my downloaded skin in my steam?

I don't know what to do after I download my skin for steam. Would someone help me find out what do I have to do?

since you guys r noob ill help u out put these folders(graphics,resource,servers,steam} in this spot C:\Program Files\Steam or for some C:\Program Files\valve\Steam
and bam u got it

Install Instructions

Ok im getting sick of people not knowing how to install steam skins so i submitted an updated version of it with the instructions in the Readme.txt file in the zip (as of 21/1/06)

Install Instructions

Here is a copy of the instructions in my Readme.txt file
It should work for most skins just change 'Flat - White on Black'
to the name of the skin

1. Close 'Steam'
2. Open up your 'Steam' folder (typically C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam)
3. If there isn't a folder called 'skins' make one
4. Copy the 'Flat - White on Black' folder to the 'skins' folder
5. Start 'Steam'
6. In Steam go View > Settings and click on the Interface tab
7. In the 'Select the skin you want Steam to use' box change it to 'Flat - White on Black'
8. Click OK
9. Close 'Steam'
10. Start 'Steam'

Trying to use another skin

im trying to use a skin called 'Smoke' from nsarmslab.com and i followed all ur directions but it dosent work.... i only have the resource and steam folders... can someone help me out?

Sorry but this still doesnt work and neither does any of the skins here. Basically I read somewhere else that when valve updated steam recently it broke backwards compatibility with custom themes for it. I have several themes installed (all correctly) and now none of them show up in the steam interface page with the drop down menu for "skins" selection. As none of them now show up (when previously they did) id guess themes are broken for steam right now.

This could be why a lot of people here have had problems...good old valve

Hey 'BOY' thats not very nice, how many steam skins have you created that get 5000 d/l's in 2-3 months.

I installed my skin - downloaded straight from here - it works perfectly fine.
Btw, if you are having problems like 'Beaverboy' or 'red' try removing all your other skins, then install my skin.

I do know about the 'smudged close and minimize buttons' and that is a bug. But before posting something here remember to try it as the only skin (deleting all others) and...

This comments page is for reporting bugs and giving comments on the skin, not bagging-out or how-to-install posts.

One final thing, I'm not sure whether anyone has noticed that skins have been submitted not been updated since the end of last year.

So don't bag me out for something that you're getting for free and something that no-one is forcing you to install.

I have fixed the 'smudging' buttons and i have fixed the button borders so they are visible again.

You'll be able to get the updated version as soon as cstrike-planet verifies the skin.

Outdated Skins

Since the owner of this site has disappeared (don't ask me about it), updated skins are just sitting in a pile waiting for someone to verify them. If you want the latest copy of this skin email me at angrykewl (at) netspace.net.au with 'Steam Skin 812' in the subject and I'll send you a copy.
