CS Condition Zero Update
Posted by Sebastian · · condition zero · 9 comments · 20887 reads
Some of the very few updates to the newly released Condition Zero are coming in. A small update has been released just moments ago, Here's Alfred's email:
We have just released a small Condition Zero update.
[*]Added bot navigation files for the standard Counter-Strike maps (for Condition Zero servers)[*]Enabled bots on Linux CZ servers

CZ dedicated server admins will need to update & restart their servers to get this change.

You will need to run the hldsupdatetool ("steam" on linux, "hldsupdatetool.exe" on win32) to get this update. Due to the small size of the update no bittorrent links will be made.

PHL CS: CZ Hands-On
Posted by Sebastian · · condition zero · add comment · 2760 reads
Kevin "Fragmaster" Bowen has written up a Hand-On preview of CS Condition Zero over at Planethalflife. Kevin mentions his take on the graphics:
The graphics are pretty darn good by Half-Life engine standards (especially the models), but certain areas look bland. Level design overall -- while very linear -- is generally solid, but there are some design flaws in certain maps and a few minor scripting\saving bugs. For example, in the last level, I managed to mess up a script by doing something I don't think the designers thought of, which prevented me from getting through a door without starting the entire map over. I twice skipped over a key weapons or equipment because they were placed in out-of-the-way areas that were easy to miss and impossible to get to via backtracking.

CS: CZ's graphics aren't bad, but the engine shows its age: this will almost certainly be the last commercial HL engine game.
Have a look at the full Hands-On Preview. This should help you decide if the game is for you when released. If ever.

More CS:CZ delays

Originally Counter Strike:Condition Zero was supposed to come out in mid November. Pre-order websites such as gamestop list the game ETA as late March, 2004. I wonder if HL2 will come out before CS:CZ?

As many of you know, Counter-Strike Condition Zero was supposed to come out a few days ago along with CS Xbox. It did not. It's expected soon, but no specific date has been given. We are hoping for a pre-holliday release though. You might be interested in reading the ign CS:CZ interview.
