Counter-Strike In-Game Ads

The classic Counter-Strike 1.6 now features in-game advertisement on the scoreboard and as textures on various virtual billboards/posters in the maps (de_dust, de_dust2, and de_aztec).

This move has triggered outrage in the CS community, but Valve is unlikely going to reverse its action. In-game advertisement may be the future of gaming, whether we like it or not.

Swampy turtle Member	ads Ads suck plan and simple i have moved my clan more times than i can count due to ads that providers add to our site when they "need more income" so Counter strike is now there new play ground to throw games in my face then im goin DoD / DoD:S so as to not face the ads and feel as if im being forced to buy something

Magedo Member	YEs, it will ruin the feel of some maps, but we have to get used to it. EVen better, Valve has to figure out how to make the ads either discrete, or part of the game, such as on a billboard that still fits in and doesnt throw the color balance off. Like, not a big bright red in the middle of a WWII scene.

50 KELibR Member	I think, as the Consumers, we should have the choice. Personally, I think it's ridiculous and it kinda ticks me off to be honest. What's next? Commercials between rounds? Gimme a break. What choice do we have? To disagree with the user agreement? Ads will be a distraction IMO.

steam_sucks (unregistered)	well, I am not surprised. steam wont give up until everyone stop playing CS. all they see is money, they dont care that they turn the best online game into crap.

laconic187 Member	Ads I want it.. i want to put the name of our server on the wall without a spray... anyone know how to do this? i know there is a beetlemod thingy that does it i have seen it...anyone have an idea?
