Valve Selling Out

Posted by satchmo · 12/10/06 @5:38 pm · interviews · 4 comments
During a recent interview with CS-Nation, Doug Lombardi announced that in-game product endorsement is going to be implemented in the near future. Advertisements will start to appear on in-game virtual billboards and building facades, first with CS 1.6, then perhaps with CSS eventually.

I guess it's just a matter of time even the most venerable game developers sell their soul for money. Read the full interview at CS-Nation.

IMO I think valve does an EXCELLENT job but havin said that, as Steam allows 3rd parties to distruibute their games, this makes their network and servers busier and the steam platform updates more frequent which irks me cause I'm on dial up and the updates take forever!

Ya, i know - it's a personal problem!

Honestly, its not gonna be that much of a big deal. If I stain blood on an Axe advertisement or a stone wall, it doesn't matter to me. I just hope that they don't do it so that it disturbs gameplay, such as, before joining a server, it shows you a video clip or something. Then I'd get annoyed.
