maby ur not doing it right.... try reinstalling it. this happend to me but never when i first installed it. i just delted it. and reinstalled now it works fine

Yeah i know whats wrong , did u run the hlsupdatetool and all that? so u get all the correct files in with it ?

Guys Calm Down, I did exactly what the Tutorial said and it works for me, the only thing is I can't get others to join in or change my Port so i can play while running my server.

Guys i had the same prob just download the hlsupdatetool and w8 for it COMPLETELY download which can take up to 3hours on certain computers then try it. If your still having problems make a shortcut of srcds.exe go to properties and find target then run the game in console mode.(at the end of the target type-console)And itll start ur server thru the console and u just have to use console commands to controll ur server. Or just open u0p steam, go to tools, and duble click on source dedicated server.XP

my problem is that it won't completely download. its downloaded alot already but last night when i look at it it was downloading .\cstrike\maps\de_dust.bsp.

i left it on allll night and now when i looked at this morning it was still at the same place.

do i needa re-install?
and it may also be the .bat file i'm using to update it.

Same Problem Here. srcds.exe will not do ANYTHING when i attempt to run it.
With all due respect, PLEASE don't tell me to reinstall this shit for the THIRD TIME. I want someone to give me a real solution here.
I've probably spent 10 hours on this thing now. PLEASE SOMEONE (with proper grammar and spelling, so i can understand wtf you're saying) HELP!!!!

I having alot of trouble setting up a server, I have the downloaded no steam version of CS1.6 and I followed the guide on the website and it worked fine but when I tried to enter the server (or anyone else) It says Cd key invalid, I think the problem is something to do with this:

I noticed the lack of 'Disabling Valve Authentication' and thought that could have something to do with it.
