Francisco Pizarro
During the time of Western World expansion, there were Spanish conquistadors taking over the South American Continent. One of the major conquistadors to come out of that era was Francisco Pizarro. He was birth was unknown. It is thought to be around 1471 to 1476.
Pizarro was born illegitimately. His father was a very wealthy and royal captain in the Spanish military. He never really saw his father much though. His mother was the one that cared for him. He didn’t have a very good education as well as family life. His mother’s parents brought him up. He didn’t have any education; therefore, he could not read. He did small jobs, such as sheep herding and pig herding. He moved to West India at the age of 15.
His first expedition was in 1509 and he was the first mate. The expedition was to explore what is now called Panama. They founded Panama City, and he was an important townsperson there. In 1527, he made his first expedition on his own to find the ancient civilization. The expedition took around one year to complete. They found evidence that the Incas existed as well as gold.
