[CS1.6] Server is up but nobody can join
i've got a dedicated server up and running, i set it to port 27016 so i can join, i can join it fine but my friend cant connect. ive got a router but ports are forwarded. the server's ip is a 192.168.x.x number and i cant seem to change it. ive tried making shortcut to HLDS and putting -ip <my real ip> but that didnt work, just starts it using my static ip. anyone know whats wrong?

Sounds like you have a router. If you want to change the IP of the server, you need to change IP on the PC that runs the dedicated server. You can try renewing your IP or assigning an IP directly to the MAC address on your ethernet port within the router config
If your server can't be seen in the steam server list, it likely is one of the following:
Your server config is set to LAN mode
Your UDP ports are not enabled properly and/or your port forwarding is set wrong
Certain ISP provided routers seem to have issues with this (no idea which ones)
Try putting the server in the DMZ
Set up a trusted zone for the server IP and all the pc on your lan for that matter.
Do you have a domain name setup for your local LAN?
Try ONE change at a time, restart the server and then check the steam server list to see if your server is there.
What IP are you giving your friends? Your WAN Ip or the server IP? You should be giving them the IP of your WAN and UDP port.

alot of ppl post about this.. as long as the port is forwarded, all you have to do is go to www.whatismyip.com and give out that ip with the port number.
also can you see your server in the steam list?

http://www.portforward.com/
You need to open TCP:
Incoming ports: 27020 - 27039
Destination ports: 27020 - 27039\
AND UDP ports:
Incoming ports: 27000 - 27015 and 1200
Destination ports: 27000 - 27015 and 1200
ALSO NOTE: always add the UDP port of the server when adding a server in your list like: 65.xx.xx.xx:27015. Although generally this is not needed, it always worth adding. Of coarse that will not work if the creator of the server changed the default UDP from 27015.

Need Help
When adding the 27015 UDP port to your server, do you put in the incoming
or the destination port?
Also for people about problems with port forwarding, www.portforward.com really helps.
