There isn't much to it - Most of the maps come zipped in a cstrike folder - just unzip it and drag it into the directory where your cstrike folder is. When prompted that the folder already exoists, select yes to overwrite it. The BSP file and NAV go into the map folder. Any custom graphics go into the materials folder and custom sounds go into the sound directory.

Don't forget to add the map to your mapcycle, maplist, votelist etc.

im a bit confused with this. i have two CS:S folders, one is with all the stuff i used to set up a server and another is in a filed named steam with all the other stuff for my steam games. now i found all the current CS:S maps i have been playing in the steam folder and i want to put them onto my server map list so i can put them into the cycle but im not quite sure how to do this.

I tried copying and pasting the maps into the folder with all my server stuff but this hasn't worked, and i dont quite understand what i have to do in accordance with the stuff above.

(im not much of a computer wiz, so dumb it down in the reply please lol)

If you have your own CSS server running, you can't be that dumb

For the client:

Put the BSP and NAV (if the map comes with one) in the steam\steamapps\your_steam_account\counter-strike\cstrike\maps folder

Put any customer materials into the steam\steamapps\your_steam_account\counter-strike\ctrike\materials folder

Put any sound files into the steam\steamapps\your_steam_account\counter-strike\ctrike\sounds

For the server, it is basically the same except the directory and/or path may be different depending on where you installed your dedicated server.

Then add the map name to tge maplist.txt, mapcycle.tx and votelist.txt if yu have mani installed
